You are the big bang, the original force of the universe, coming on as whoever you are. –Alan watts
Space is something we are both familiar with, yet removed from. You can spend years studying space, but it is a reality few will ever get to experience. This project is an abstraction of the experience of space. It is a glimpse into what it feels like to be in space, to have been there for the birth of our universe. What did it smell like? Sound like? How does one experience infiniteness? Is it possible to even visualize the evolution of our universe? This project is an experience of the unexperienceable, in every sensory way possible.
The piece uses a mirror as a double-edged sword. The mirror not only creates the illusion of infinite space, but also allows viewers to gaze at their reflection. The mirror creates the infiniteness of space and brings the viewer inside the work. The mirror challenges viewers to reflect on their place within the universe.
